I am almost there! A whole month of eating a vegan diet. I will say that it was easier than I thought it would be. It was delicious. I ate better, by far, than I usually do, because most all vegan recipes that I found are very healthy. Vegans are a health conscious bunch it seems. That is one of the main reasons for people to begin a vegan diet. I know that is my main reason. Although I adore animals and hate the way farm animals are treated being raised for food, even the dairy product animals, that is not my main focus for going vegan. I want the health benefits of not consuming animal products. And they are many, if you have been reading my posts this week on the benefits you will see. Stay tuned for more of those. As for me personally, here are some of the benefits that I have seen in just a month of eating vegan.
*My skin is softer and clearer, no blemishes, even during PMS time
*PMS was nearly non existent this time, hubby was happy, let me tell you.(this is also a benefit of yoga)
*My hair is softer, thicker and shinier(though this may also be in part due to discontinuing coloring)
*The arthritis symptoms in my hands have greatly lessened, due to the lack of inflammatory foods; IE; dairy products.
*My cravings for sweets has lessened dramatically. Vegan sweets are decadent, and I don't have to eat much to be satisfied.
*I have had noticeably more energy and a more positive outlook on things, in general.
*Elimination is regular and without problems, due to ALL those fruits and veggies no doubt.
*Though I have not been on a scale yet, we estimate that I have lost between 7-10 pounds. A lovely bonus. My body fat level is much lower and I have toned muscles, due in part to the yoga. But I had already been doing yoga without these kind of results until I changes the way I ate.
Due to these factors and benefits and the fact that I enjoy this way of eating and the delicious foods, I have decided to continue the vegan way of eating. I am going to remain a vegan. So, though I won't post about it as regularly, since it is still new to me, I will periodically, share new recipes and tips, and how it is going for me. Especially around holidays and such. Thanks for following along with me on my vegan journey and thanks for your support.
