I recently read this article at CrazySexyLife and it along with a new yoga studio that is opening in my city has inspired me to get back on the mat. I have not been able to practice much since having the surgery on my hand. Unfortunately, most of my favorite poses involve support with the hands. I have been quite bummed about not being able to do my yoga practice and many, many other things due to the surgery. This was a great contributor to my bout of depression. I was feeling pretty icky about myself and my commitments and the things that I wanted to do, but had not. However, after reading Kate Hanley's article, I got up this morning (with a loving nudge from my hubby) and got on the mat. Boy, let me tell you, at 41 it doesn't take long to lose some flexibility and strength. But I also know that it doesn't take long to recover it either. So, here I am again...staring anew. I am more than ready! peace

Hi Yarrow. So sorry I've not been over for a while. Life seems get a little out of control over the school holidays! My girls start back on 7th sept and I'm really looking forward to just "being" too. I'm just starting out with Yoga (have you seen Ecoyogini's blog btw?), partly because I've never really had the opportunity until now but mostly because I feel an intense need for it!
Sorry to hear about your hand. You must have been through some very frustrating times recently. I'm glad you feel that St.John's wort is helping you as I've just started taking it myself (too early to feel benefits yet) and am really pinning all my hopes on it.
Enjoy your Yoga, eat well and sleep well.
Natalie
