Herbal Goodies

My beautiful St. John's/Joan's Wort. It has been blooming for a couple of weeks now and shows no sign s of stopping.
I harvested some blooms and leaves two weeks ago and covered them with olive oil to make St. John's Wort oil.
St. John's Wort oil is wonderful. It is generally used topically for nerve damage, pain, swellings, bruises and other types of trauma to the skin.
But you can also use it internally as well. Add it to salad dressings and mix it with stir fries. Even add i to your animals food when they are feeling particularly stressed or anxious.

Place the St. John's wort flowers and leaves in a widemouthed jar. Pour in enough olive oil so that it rises 2-3 inches over the herb. Cover tightly and place the jar in a warm, sunny location,(mine is in the garden) for 4-6 weeks.
Strain the oil through a fine-meshed strainer and rebottle. The oil should be a deep blood red, the redder the better. Apply topically to strains, bruises, wounds, swellings, and other areas of tissue trauma. Beautiful!
