Back To School!?

Well, it is decided. I am going back to school. I have been toying with the idea for years. After high school, I had grants to pay for my schooling and I had gone so far as to choose a major, but then decided to get married instead. (Yes, I know, what a bad decision.) Then the babies started coming and I never got back t school. Although, I have learned a lifetime worth of living from raising my children. However, now, things in my life have changed dramatically, and it is time for me to pursue that degree. So beginning next fall (I hope), I will be a student at the local community college for an Associate of Arts degree and then go on to graduate school at the University of Tennessee, School of Social Work. I plan on working in social work most likely as a therapist, but that is not set in stone yet. There are many, many places for someone with a psychology degree to work. But I am so excited about finally doing this that I had to mention it here. In the meantime, I am going to brush up on some of the subjects that were not my strong suit in school, and start working on my foreign language requirement. High school French is, unfortunately a distant memory. LOL

OH BOY! i sure hope I'm able to join you. Ben, my husband, asked me how I was going to do it. I figure if you with four kids at home can do it, why can't I?

That's wonderful! I'm thinking of getting another degree...kind of daunting with work and small children, but it's important for mamas to follow their dreams too.

I love that Crone Time image!

Good on you! What a great example to all us scaredy mams who don't think we have what it takes to go back and improve ourselves. Too many of us think that our brains turn to mush on contact with a nappie,we have nothing to offer society after our years spent at home with the kids. To some SAHM is another way of saying not a full member of society - you go and prove them wrong for the rest of us!
