Here is what I did with the apples from my friend Mari. I froze six quarts of cut up apples for the winter. I love to make hot apple pies and apple crumb cake and apple crisp in the fall and winter months. I also froze a quart of tomatoes from our garden. Finally, I made carved a semblance of a head for Sophie to dry and make an dried apple "Crone' for Harvest and Samhain. Now is the time to carve them if you want them to be dry in time for Mabon in September or Samhain/Halloween. Hope each of you are enjoying your own harvests of whatever kind. Autumn is in the air. Blessings.

I love the picture of Sophie. Thanks for the tip about carving now. I always forget until it is too late...
I am playing catch up today on all my blog reading. :) I love freezing/preserving apples for the winter. Makes me feel that fall is indeed coming soon!
I didn't even think of making the crones for the girls, I'll do that, it'll be fun.
Hugs!
Mari
Mmmmmmmm! I've missed you! Xxx
Nice batch of apples for the freezer! I'd be interested to know if you pre-treated the apples with any acid (like lemon juice) or put them in a sugar pack before freezing, since you left the apples unpeeled. (I've had untreated apples turn rubbery in the freezer and am curious to know how others fare with it.)
tennzen, I did not treat them with anything, so we will see how they turn out. I have froze them before without adding lemon juice, but it has been many years. However, the way we enjoy them, they probably won't be in the freezer for an extended time anyway. LOL
